SueK Wrote:Hi Nikki; I think I missed your "hello" post originally so a belated welcome!!!
thank you, Sue! All of you ladies are SO kind. A great place this site, no doubt!

SueK Wrote:I am sorry for your loss and sadness at the passing of 2 cats, so close together, but hope this gorgeous boy will help you to heal......
You see, Ciccio will never replace Priscilla and Casper. They were SO special to me and I'll never forget them. They will always be in my heart and I do believe we'll be reunited someday in Heaven! But yes, having a kitten around helps a lot....It makes you smile again....and sure keeps you busy....

SueK Wrote:I also hope that Sunny Jade is as pleased to see him as you are (?!),
NOT AT ALL!!! She hates him!
I mean, they can share a room without blood running and that's all I can expect!!! I tried and explained Ciccio that Sunny Jade is an old spinster (just like me) with no sense of humor so it's totally useless trying and having her play with him. But nonetheless he keeps on trying to have her chasing him and all, obviously with no success. She looks at this little monster arrived from nowhere always trying to tease her tail and there's something wild in her eyes as if she would like to burn him away!!! But then again, SJ is a very difficult cat with an awful temper, let's face it....she doesn't like anybody. She only loved Priscilla (my other ragdoll) and when Priscilla died she became sad and even more solitary. I've been hoping the new addition would have helped her a little, actually I took this kitten especially to help her blossom again. The bottom line is: I have now an old cat who is mad to me and on permanent guard and a kitten who hasn't got a clue why he is always rejected. I'm afraid the boy is going to slip into a depression sooner or later. So I made up my mind and soon I'm taking another kitten, presumably a girl......
SueK Wrote:he is a real cutie and has some big feet to grow into there I think!!!
Yes, he's actually a heart thief, and as for the big feet I noted it too!!! And look at the big nose!!!! I wonder if he's going to become a giant?

Yes Coral, I'm afraid you are right....He must have a talent for destruction!!!
And this biting thing.....He lately developed a special interest in biting shoes, slippers, bags and belts......I mean, have I got a kitten or a PUPPY??????

Getting another kitten is a good idea. We had a similar situation, with two older cats and a new kitten. The kitten vexed the older cats no end with a desire to play, long after they were done. We got another kitten and ALL got along great, with the kittens playing as long as they wanted and the seniors joining as long as they wanted, with all sleeping together and grooming the rest of the time, emphasis on rest. Hopefully, that will be your experience, although SJ sounds a difficult case.

About the chewing issue, my cats went through that phase too. It does pass! Try giving him plastic straws (the disposable kind like you get in restaurants) to chew on. When my boys were kittens, they LOVED those straws... they'd bite and chew on them, chase them if I used them as a teaser, carry them around in their mouths, etc, and whenever I saw them chewing on something they shouldn't I'd redirect them with a straw. Just be sure to throw them out when they start to get too chewed up so that he doesn't end up chewing off the ends and swallowing them (the straws are very inexpensive, I got a box of 100 for one or 2 dollars, so throwing them out doesn't feel like you're throwing money down the drain!).

Some cats will chew up and swallow straws from the start, so watch to make sure that does not happen and use paper ones.
