Ok, this is kind of related to ragdolls, lol. I'm currently in the market for a new bagless vacuum cleaner. Since I'm sure I'm not the only one obsessed about vacuuming cat fur off the carpet and furniture, I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations?
Dyson Animal
What a great thread! i was also looking at vacum cleaners the other day because of the amount of raggie tumbleweeds that i have around the house. I settled on a "MIELE" vacum - although it requires disposable bags. Works great on my lounges and cat tree although i cant give a review on carpets as i dont have them.

I've also heard great reviews about the "Dyson Animal"... though i just couldnt justify spending around AU$1000 on a vacum when i dont have carpet.
Absolutely with Jan on this one, bought a Dyson Animal back in May and no longer struggle with pet hair, it makes light work of vacuuming and does a really good job, we actually noticed an improvement in our carpets when we first got it.
I am interested also because my central vac from Sears is a piece of crud! It has been repaired so many times and I only bought it a few years ago! We were deciding between a Beam but decided on Kenmore. I think we will be getting something like the Dyson too!
I love my Dyson Animal, but.....if I were to buy again, I'd buy the Sears Kenmore Intelliclean Progressive with Direct Drive. We purchased that to use "commerically" here at the library where I work after doing much research and everyone who has seen it loves it. Our janitor thinks it's the greatest too. The write up on it with animal fur was excellent, and it's about half the price of the Dyson.
I have the Electrolux Oxygen 3 vacuum (cannister, with bags). It's very powerful, and the HEPA filter is great-- my "test" is my mom, who's incredibly allergic to cats, and when she and my dad visit she's actually able to spend an hour or 2 at a time in my apartment... before I got this vacuum, it was more like 15 minutes (my entire apartment is carpeted except for my entrance hall, kitchen, and bathroom, so a good vacuum really makes a difference apparently!!!). (I'm not as inhospitable as that might sound-- even before I got the cats, they always stayed in hotels when they visited!)
The bags are also very easy to change and there's a tab that you pull to close the bag so that the dirt, dust, etc stays safely inside the bag while you're handling it, and it has lights on the cannister that flash when the bag is full or the filter needs to be replaced (note: haven't yet had to replace the filter, so i don't know how easy or not that is... but it can't be that complicated).
I love my Dyson Animal mine is on a ball one.
Love how it turns on the ball. The dyson has padding so if you hit your furniture or kitchen cabinet your not dinging it all up
I think dyson has good warranty 5years Hygienic dust bin; lifetime HEPA filter; certified asthma friendly
dyson listened to customers and you can now turn the beater bar off with a switch now ,,and go from carpet to hard wood floors and just watch those dust bunnies get sucked up.Very clever design with the extension wand and the ease of use of the attachments I have not used them all.and did I mention the long cord it has nice quality not cheap.
I so all like how easy it is to empty the canister you just push a button to release from sweeper and push button to empty the dirt out,,, yippy!!!, I use to fight with my old sweeper to get canister off and to get back on.
Cons ,,, There are a few The cost not cheap ,and some people complain about the weight to carry it up and down stairs,, hasn't bother me tho.I bought mine from a vacuum sweeper store and was told if I didn;t want the animal that I should save my money and buy another brand that was less money as he felt the others were not worth it.
I have been dealing with this man for over 20 years and he has been very honest with me.

Sorry about double postSad

Love my Miele cat/dog! It also has a HEPA filter. As noted above, it has a bag, but I still haven't had to change it and I've had it nearly a year. Worth the money for sure.
