I purchased a male ragdoll from a reputable breeder one year ago. Six months ago I questioned the breeder regarding the cat's constant meowing. Now this cat meows for everything. He got out on the back deck once this summer and now tries to scoot out the doors at any chance. He meows in the kitchen (although eats his food). Meows after we have had our various "playtimes" throughout the day, meows for attention, etc. There are no issues with littler box, food, or not enough attention.
I fell in love with this cat but have informed the breeder I can no longer keep him because, for me, it is so nerve wracking to hear this very definite and loud meowing all the time.
I found a cat rescue group in the Pacific Northwest that is recommended by three reputable breeders. This cat's breeder will not sign a "release clause" so the group can find a good home near me. The breeder doesn't acknowledge any of my issues with the cat ( figuring I am "not a cat person" and " the cat needs to be with another cat") and insists that I ship the cat across the country again. She tells me she can be sure that this cat finds a good home.
When I bought the cat from her and had the cat shipped (my first ragdoll) she did not ask any questions of me and didn't know what kind of situation this cat was going to be in.
Any suggestions at this point would be helpful. I am in the midst of complying with her request to ship him next week.
Even an acknowledgement from her that this cat may be more difficult for some to live with would have been helpful.

I don't know what type of suggestions you are asking for. It seems to me you have already made up your mind that you want to give your ragdoll up, and the breeder sounds very responsible in asking for it back (it's usually in the contract that the ragdoll MUST be returned to the breeder when surrendered).

The fact that you are able to give the ragdoll up just because of his "talking" leads me to believe that it is probably best for the ragdoll too. There seems to be something that you are not able (or willing) to provide (for example, a feline companion) that this particular cats needs. I wish you and him the best in the future.
Yes, it will be best to ship the kitten back. (Some cats talk, including Ragdolls. That is part of the "risk" of having cats. Loving Siamese also, I like talkative cats, but most Ragdolls are not talkative to that degree. I believe the reason most people who are bothered by it is because they feel they SHOULD respond in some way. Which they need not do, of course.)
I really wish that I lived closer to you.Sad I have 2 ragdolls who rarely speak except to purr...which they do almost continually.
I miss the conversations I used to have when I owned Bengals. My ex has them now. I would love it if mine talked more and would be happy to take your companion off your hands.

I wish you did too. This cat would love to be with two other good looking ragdolls like yours.

Both of my cats talk one who is a ragdoll and the other a tabby. They speak when they walk around, when waiting to be feed, and sometimes just because they want to. My cats do not speak because they are lacking anything, its just because they like to. Some cat are talkers, it goes with the territory. Sounds like it would be best if you do give your cat back to the breeder, and maybe consider a different animal.
OK, normally I would just not respond to this but... this kind of really annoys me.
I guess I must be honest to say I cant believe you are so willing to give him up. Esp over him meowing. Maybe he does need a companion as some have suggested. However, like Teresa said it sounds like it would be better for the cat to go back to the breeder. It is just sad. However , I do commend the breeder for ensuring her kittens do not end up in shelters.
Where do you live knoxfox? Nevermind, I see you are in the northwest. If you were on the east coast, I would have taken him.
I would love to see a photo of Bogie. What color is he? And is he neutered?
Yes, he is neutered. He is a cream bi-color. I will forward photos taken last week.
