I'm just wondering about this.

When I first got Gabriel he made little squeaky noises.
As he grew older, he wouldn't actually miouw but he would say "Meeeee".
Now that he's a year old (August 1st was his birthday) he 'talks' a little more, but only when he wants his food.

Now Chanel on the other hand, a Maine Coon, she can talk up a storm.
When I come home she talks; when she wants her food she talks and when I talk to her she 'replies'.

So, are Ragdolls talkative cats or more the silent type?
It depends on the raggie. One of mine is very talkative, and the other rarely talks....it's all about personality.
So who is the talker in your family? Simone or Samantha?
Do you talk to them?
mine are both talkers....there are the meows but then there is another noise they make. lol, I was just talking to my mom about this the other day.... George and Duncan both do it but it is hard to explain... they do it to each other and to me
If it's not a meow than I wonder what it is. Is it some sort of growl?
Which reminds me, do Ragdolls ever growl and hiss at each other or at humans?
You know, when they open their mouth and blow.
Charlotte hissed at Gabriel the other night. He was playing a little too rough with her and she turned around and hissed.
Gabriel's face was to die for, he looked totally confused.

no, not a growl or hiss..lol just talking. It is more of an affectionate thing... like a greeting
Ragdolls in general are not talkative compared to Siamese. They tend to talk only when they have something to say. However, some Ragdolls are talkative and often that shows in them as small kittens. We had one who walked around talking to himself and this carried over into adulthood.

Big Grin That was my laugh of the day. I'm gonna remember this quote, probably, forever.

When Duncan and George talk to each other is it a sort of cooing type sound. Like a meow coo long throat sound? That is how a mother cat calls her young kittens. So if they call each other that and you then you all are considered family.Big Grin Sometimes they chrip also.

Are you by chance talking about the "chirpy talk"? I know that isn't the technical term, both my girls chirp to us and each other.
