If I get two Ragdolls, what considerations do I need to make in getting two females or one female and one male? Personally, I do not want to get two males. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with that-just personal preference.Big Grin
Personally, I did not want to get two male ragdolls either, but that's how it just ended up, lol.

My first raggie, I wanted to get a female seal colorpoint, but all the breeder had were two male lynxes. I went to go just to look at them, and obviously, I couldn't leave without getting one of them. Tongue

Then for my second raggie, I found a breeder that had two female seal-mitteds, or so she thought. Surprise, when she went to the vet, one of them turned out to be a boy. I was going to meet both of them, so I could get a feel for their personalities, but then the breeder contacts me later right before our meeting date to tell me that the female kitten had gotten tangled up in the window blinds cords. Her back hind leg was injured so she would not be available for a couple more weeks. So then I went, met the other kitten, fell in love and took him home.

So in the end I never really got what I wanted, haha, but honestly, I would not trade one in for a female for anything in the world. I do want to get a female kitten eventually though Tongue But yeah, both males get along great and love to sleep and play together (you can see from my posted pics!).

And from what I've read, I heard that it might be a little more difficult to get two females to get along due to the alpha thing, but when it comes down to it, it all really depends on their personalities regardless of sex. Good luck!
In general, the individual differences are greater than the sex differences, except that males tend to be bigger. And even there, some girls are bigger than some boys. That being said, boy kittens seem to play harder and longer than the girls (and sometimes want to involve you in ways you do not want) and seem to be a bit more laid back. The general view is that males are a bit cuddlier perhaps, but our most reliable lap cats happen to be girls. In any event, all the combinations work well and you should just get the kittens you want. You should consider just picking the kitten based on how you react and how they seem together rather than deciding in advance about color/pattern/sex unless you have a real preference for those.
in the past i have had four males and one female at the same time. i personally prefer male raggies, nothing against my charley of course. there has never been a problem with them or with any other cats that have come into the family
I vote for the boys x
I have to vote for the boys too. lol. Of course I'm biased because of Teddy, but I just returned from a vacation with friends who have a male Raggie named Marlowe (watch for pics!), and he is so affectionate. They also have a male Himalayan and the boys get along very well. Although I have to admit, my brother's Raggie girl is a sweetheart. Smile
I vote for boys ~ but I am biased, too!!!
boys here too for the same reason. I do have 2 male ragdolls and 1 non and 1 female non and she is a pain...She tries fighting them all if in her way. I will truly take my males over Miss Catitude.
i always wanted a boy, but i ended up with a girl.. oops, sorry i mean a Lady Wink and i couldn't be happier. she's a joy. when the time is right, my next will be a boy, but i worry about what i'm reading on increased urinary tract disease (blockage etc) in males than females... ??
Thanks for the feedback. All of your Raggies are SO GORGEOUS!! I have been in contact with a breeder (I have been on her waiting list). Hopefully, I will have some exciting news tomorrow!!
