Hello, I got a new Ragdoll boy and named him Solo. Right now he is 15 weeks old! He is a love, and definitely does the Ragdoll floppy thing that I had read about. He loves being held and having his tummy rubbed, and will sleep on your lap on his back!
Kitten wise Solo is either running around playing, or whining to be held or pet. He follows us around like a lil puppy and cries when we are too busy for him. Poor fellow must be missing his litter mates still, but I don't want to teach him that he can be the center of attention every waking minute! I mean when I am cooking dinner and he is whining for attention, its not like I can hold him and cook at the same time! But we have only had him 2 weeks, and things seem to be going smoothly. We love little Solo, he is just handsome!
What age do the babies usually mellow? We got a Ragdoll because I read they are a "calm" breed haha...
Solo sounds wonderful!! Welcome to the forum. I got my girls when they were 3.5years and 15 months. The 3.5 year was really mellow already, but the 15 month was still pretty kittenish. I noticed when she reached about 2 years she really slowed down and became more "mellow" as you say. She still has her crazy play periods, but isn't quite so ready to play all the time like she was.
Now....where are the pics??
My Zeke is mellow but Mykah makes up for him. Zeke really seemed to mellow out about the time he was neutered. He still plays believe me but nothing like his half brother who is my mischievous one.
Welcome and a beautiful kitten
i missed out on the kitten phase, since i adopted a fairly mellow adult. just wanted to welcome you and your cutie pie here!! it's exciting to have have so many new kittens here.
Welcome to you and Solo, he is a handsome little guy!
If mellowing means not crying for attention then I think you may be in it for the long haul! Adonis is now almost 2 and is anything he is more demanding than he was as a kitten - sorry. I agree that sometimes you do have to ignore them but it can be so hard when they just won't give up!! I hope I haven't put you off, it can be quite endearing. You could always try getting him some company, that might help although I can't guarantee it as Adonis has lots of company!
My breeder is keeping in contact with me and if Solo turns out to not be a good match for us she told me that I have a lot of other options. For now, I am going to stick with the kitten thing, let him do some growing up, and then see what happens. He sure is a pleasure to have around, but if he is really demanding my home may not be the best fit for his needs because I do work full time. I may consider another kitten to keep him company, although I really was set on having just one cat. I don't want to deal with double the litter box clean up

Our girl Gussie would love nothing more than to be held all day. After 1 month we decided to get another kitten, for us and for her. It was the perfect solution. They amuse each other all day long. The litterbox for 2 vs. 1 is not much different at all...it's no big deal.
Welcome to the forum!
Oooo!,,, I would be holding that baby 24/7 lol and if not me there are 4 more options in my family that would be more then happy to oblige.")
I have a new baby and let her meow once and we are all fighting to get to her,,,,,lol I guess were a needy family
He sounds like a real doll

sounds like heaven

Welcome to the forum!
Don't worry if you're set on having one cat - Solo should be able to learn to be on his own and entertain himself when you're not around. It does take some time for Ragdolls to get over the kitten stage, but he'll get used to your routine. Just make sure to play with him a lot in the evenings and on weekends/days you're home. My Teddy is 19 months old and an only cat, and he does just fine. He's still kittenish some days, so he hasn't completely mellowed yet.
