I could use a little help. I need to change foods from RC to something else - I just don't know what. I think it may be the corn in the RC that is giving Hershey loose stools.
I know that there are a lot of very experienced ragdoll owners on here. What would you transition over to if you were me?
Has anyone heard of "Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul?" The first 3 ingredients are chicken, salmon and chicken meal followed by white rice, chicken fat and whole grain brown rice.
I live in Canada so if you have suggestions I would be most grateful.
Anna
Chicken Soup is a good food, I've never personally fed it but lots of people speak highly of it. Corn-free foods that I have fed include Blue Buffalo kitten, Wellness kitten, and Wellness Core and Innova Evo (these last two are not kitten-specific foods).
It did not agree with my boys but it is good. It took me forever to get some that did. I use the Nutro indoor for kittens/Avodern for kittens/ Wellness core and they are doing so much better.
I also have adult cats and so that is why I am also using Wellness core.
Just remember to introduce them slowly which I know you will anyway. Good luck
I use a mixture of Dick Patten's Natural Balance, Wellness Kitten, Blue Buffalo, and Instinct Rabbit meal... they're so spoiled blah.
I use a mixture of Innova EVO and Wellness Core. I also add a few of the science diet TD to help keep teeth clean but only a small amount. I also believe in giving canned food as well and in this case my cats live the EVO also.
I think this is one of those times Anna, where our different geographical locations make things a little tricky. When I got my two last year, they suffered runny tummies for some time and I did a good deal of reading & experimenting to turn things around. After some 6 weeks; I was so proud of their solid poos

....at the same time as having got them on to a wet diet as well as their dry food!! A happy bonus at the time was an noticeable improvement in their condition (and in Billy's case; his weight too).
Unfortunately I imagine that many of the products available here, are not available where you are and vice versa. I do know that Hills' products are available in the States and I have to say that I find "Hills Sensitive Stomach" to be a great product; good for their tummies and something that they love at the same time. I am uncertain how suitable this would be for kittens (or indeed if they make a kitten equivalent) as if I am not mistaken, your boys; especially Hershey is still very young?
I am not certain how useful it will be to you, but happy to pass on the knowledge I gained in the meantime, just drop me a PM if I can help.
I suggest Royal Canin Cat food. That is what I feed to my cat and she loves it. Her stools are never loose. I would recommend a dry food. You can usually find it at the big pet supply stores.
