Hi

Could anyone please suggest a dry kitten food that would be gentle on the stomach of my two 4 mth old Ragdoll kittens?

We are having issues with runny poo's - it doesn't seem to be letting up and I am over it. They have both been to the vet and have been treated for worms & stomach bugs, I also stopped wet food weeks ago but the problem hasn't let up.

They are both happy, eating well, drinking water, putting on weight - quickly Smile, they are active and playful... it's all working well except for the runny smelly poo's.

I currently give them a mix of Royal Canin kitten, Hill's kitten & Nutrience kitten. Maybe too much variety, I am not sure. The mix is almost finished so before I restock I thought I would ask you all what you would buy if you were me?

Many thanks in advance Smile
I found that when i added a bit of IAMS Hairball (per a breeder) it helped. I too started with the RC kitten and some say that may give them a bit of a loose stool. I've since transistioned my little one to the RC level for 4 mos to a yr. I'm currently using RC 36, Iams Hairball and Eukanuba kitten, now in equal portions and the poo seems fine.
There are some kittens and or cats that seem to not tolerate the Royal Canin (RC) food as well as others so I would eliminate that brand. When ever you make a change in food there may be an adjustment period and some stomach upset. Iams hairball is good for runny poos also. You do have to feed that as an only food for a while until the stools harden up. I also use spring water and not my well so that may make a difference.
I second what KewlKat and Gail say about adding some Iams Hairball. I experienced a similar situation with my boys when they were little (I was feeding them Iams Kitten) and as soon as I added Iams Hairball it firmed right up! (I had tried feeding them a little canned pumpkin, which was hit-or-miss because it's hard to know how much of that to give them. the hairball food was a lot more consistent (and easier!) in my experience.)
Rather than adding a non-kitten blend, you should try giving them BeneBac (the good GI bacteria, also in live culture yoghurt) and a few tablespoons of canned pumpkin (not pie filling with spices) a few times a day. (Keep in mind that food changes can introduce its own GI upset, so give that a chance to settle if you decide to add a food.)
never heard of that one.
We had trouble with RC too with loose stool and we finally found something that does not make us evacuate the room when they go and no runs. We use Nutro indoor for Kittens/ Avodern for kittens and Wellness core and since changing the odor is tolerable. Hope you find the answer.
i like dick patton's natural balance.
We tried that one too but oh man did my boys stink. It is so funny how one thing works for one and not for another. I know just like us but it still amazes me.
I too have been using RC kitten - Hershey has been on it since he has been weaned but I also notice a runny/soft stool. He was checked for parasites last week (negative). I didn't realize RC had this effect on so many kittens. I also feed mine wet food once a day - maybe I'll cut back on that first to see if it makes a difference.
Thank you to everyone who gave advice ... all taken on board off to the shop I go Smile
