Hi All! Please forgive an ignorant novice Ragdoll person, but... I have picked out a beautiful torbie girl. Her mother is flame, her father is seal. The breeder is calling her a seal torbie. The lighter patches on her face will eventually turn to red patches. Of course because she is a wee baby, her colors are not in. Some pictures of seal torbies I have seen online look like they have only seal patches with no red. I thought a torbie by definition was a combination of either seal/flame or blue/cream. Could someone please enlighten me? Thanks!
A torbie is a mixture of tortie and tabby. If neither parent is a tabby then she must be a tortie not a torbie. And you are right, they are a combination of seal/flame, blue/cream, choc/flame or lilac/cream; but some may just not have as much flame or cream as others.
There may be a lynx parent that you did not realize, in which case she can also be lynx (tabby). Red/cream comes in slowly, so often with torties/torbies the red will come into areas that are patches of white in the kitten when the non-red colors are already clear. A seal torbie would be a mix of seal and red/flame and would also have lynx/tabby striping.
Thanks for the info!
