I am 28 and feel your pain! I know it's a tough choice. Bills are going to go up no doubt. I just moved from an apartment to a house and was considering another dog. Them I came to my senses LOL! I have now one dog and the cats. I do like to go out but luckily for me I have a TERRIFIC friend who is a stay at home Mom with two dogs who loves my dog. She puppy sits anytime I need her too. I live far from my friends and the regular social outtings. Dogs are a much bigger commitment. They need to be walked! I hate people who only let them loose in the yard. I take mine twice a week to a dog park to socialize. On the other hand.... I love having her go places with me! We run errands together when it's not hot and she loves being by my side. If you go get a dog, please rescue! There are all shapes and sizes that need good homes. Often rescues socialize them with cats. Dogs are awesome compains I can not lie but make sure you want the commitment first. Cats are much easier and bring you just as much love! Either way... it's a good thing. I'm sure your Purr Kins would love to have someone to play with.

Good Luck!
Hi Chrysee,

I've struggled in the past on whether to get a second cat (Raggie, of course Wink), but I finally had to be honest with myself that Teddy is more than enough responsibility for me. I'm on my own, so when he's sick or I want to go away somewhere, it's all up to me to look after things. If I had a partner who I could share the responsibility with, I might consider a second cat at some point. That said, Teddy's health issues over the past year have made me realize it's a big financial responsibility as well, so I'm thankful I just have the one. I make an effort to give him lots of attention. I'm home with him every evening if I've been at work during the day, and take lots of time to play with him, brush him, etc. He seems happy to me, so I'm going to stick with one Raggie. Smile

I had some good advice from a vet when I first got Teddy. She said, "If you're going to get another cat, be sure that YOU want a second one and that you're not just doing it for Teddy's sake."

I know we one-Raggie owners are a bit of a minority on the forum, but I thought I'd share my perspective. Smile

Coral
I think Coral has a really good point when it comes to what you can afford. I recently bought 2 Raggie's and one got sick ... I had to take Lily to the vet and both kittens needed to be treated. It worked out to be pretty expensive, it definately blew my budget for the month. I was actually planning on buying a third but have now decided against it due to costs if all the cats get sick or need to be treated at the same time.

In saying that I am over the moon with my gorgeous fur babies and know that I made the right decision in getting a second kitten - it will also decrease my guilt when I go away knowing that they have each other - they really do entertain each other ... Lily has been much more content when she is allowed to play with Luca.
