I would get a shot now and another three weeks later, then the first annual booster a year after that. If the vet asks why, give the URL for the recommendations of feline practitioners. The report was created to reduce unneeded vaccinations, so that shots are recommended in it means they are strongly recommended by a consensus of the experts. It was found that 3/1 and 4/1 vaccination on and after 16 weeks provided significantly better protection for the first year.
At this point I am really disappointed and worried. I've never had kittens before last year and I feel we need a professional who can advise us and not the other way around. The last straw was when I inquired about neutering and was asked if I'd like declawing with that. It was like "Would you like fries with that?"

I think at this point I just need a referral to a vet who understands cats.
Based on the declawing offer, I would agree. As to the vaccinations, stopping earlier has been common and not all vets are up to date on the sixteen week protocol. They may have seen it in the vaccine insert and did not recognize it was also recommended by "independent" vets expert in feline medicine.
Thanks so much for your help. I'm looking for a new vet right now!
