After reading the topic 'So Scary', I thought I'd tell you a story too.
This happened about 5 years ago.
We had 7 cats at the time, they were usually scattered all over the condo, but at dinner time they all come together.
Then one day, Charlie didn't show up.
That was strange, Charlie was usually the first one to show up in the kitchen.
My son and I looked for him, called him, but there was no sign of Charlie.
We looked in all the usual and unusual places but, Charlie was gone.
In a panic I went out in the corridor and knocked on all my neighbors' doors to ask if they had seen a big white cat.
None of them had.
Since Charlie was now officially missing, my son (Dieter) quickly wrote a note reporting Charlie as missing, with a phone number to contact.
He was gonna post that downstairs on the notice board.
I was half out of my mind with worry.
When Dieter came back he was holding Charlie in his arms.
Apparently he had met someone at the elevator bank who saw his distress, saw the note and said "Are you looking for a white cat?"
When Dieter confirmed the man said "There's a cat at the bottom of the staircase."
Dieter hurried over and found Charlie huddled in a ball.
He brought him home, Charlie was pampered and made a fuss over and all was well that ended well.
This was a lesson for us though.
Management had entered out condo to check the fire alarm system.
Charlie must have slipped out.
So we installed an extra lock on the door to which we didn't give management a key.
Now they can't come into the condo anymore.
According to them we have to give them a key, but my argument was that they were negligent with my pets and they could stand on their heads, I still wouldn't give them a key.
Now, whenever maintenance work needs to be done, one of us stays home to be there when the workers come into the condo.
We never let anyone in anymore. They just can't be trusted.
