Thanks you guys. Yes I agree, that's a really horrible thing to do to cat, if indeed that is what they did.

Well, things are not going so well with him these days. He has had some diarrhea for the past while since we got him. Probably because he is so good at sneaking food off our plates and out of the other cats' dish. It's been slowly improving, but now he goes on various places on the floor, not always in the box. It's a daily problem. Doesn't matter how diligent we are in keeping the boxes clean (that includes one huge box that he has all to himself). Plus, sometimes he pees on the floor. It seems to be a behavioral issue. When it's time for food, he goes in his own room where we keep his food so that the other two get their own food and he gets his. He's pooed ALL over that room and peed on the floor a few times as well. And I'm getting the idea that he doesn't want to eat by himself, and would rather have one of us stand there until he's done. As far as I can tell he may be rebelling to being alone for food time. And he howls at night because we don't let the cats in the bedroom. So every morning there's another "present" on the floor to clean up.

On top of that he's getting pretty aggressive with our other two cats, in particular with Gracie. She does keep playing with him, but he can be so rough sometimes. I worry he's going to hurt her at some point.

We're trying to give him as much attention as possible. But so far it's not really improving. I'm not sure if he's such a good fit in our home, and might do better with a family that doesn't have other cats. Sad
Might just be that is why his previous owners gave him to you. But just in case I would take him to the vet and let your vet know what he has been doing. He might have a UTI or IBS. Good luck with your new little one and check with the vet before you give up complete hope that it will work out.
Thanks.
Yes, he does have a sensitive tummy. We knew that when we got him. They assured us the prescription food he is on now has helped tremendously. And I'm sure since he snuck some food several times that has upset things, and will take some time to get better again. But it still doesn't explain why he goes all over the floor. Yes, maybe a trip to the vet is needed. Ug.
I was hopeful for you/him when you first were posting.... This brings up the idea that he's being passed around because of his 'issues'; and he has these issues because he's being passed around. Are you able to give him a room to himself for the time being? Rescue Remedy is very helpful, as is Lavender hydrosol water spray in his bedding/area.

What are you feeding him? Cats do not need tons of grains...be careful with that. I'm sure I'll hear from some people about that... Rolleyes
Thanks, Martine. Yes maybe he has been passed around, I don't know. He's on Hill's D/D Duck formula. Mostly just the dry food. I was giving him some canned too, but want to keep him on just one thing for a while if possible to help stabilize his tummy. Thank you for the tip. I haven't heard of that stuff before. I'll have to see if I can get it locally.

He does have his own room where we keep his food and his own litter box. But he's a very social cat, and the more time he spends in there, the more of a mess he makes in it. And we can't spend a lot of time in there as we're both working and have other responsibilities. So we don't put him in there these days except for feeding.
