Hi Everyone,

I've been so undecisive about this but I am now thinking about getting another ragdoll...

My boyfriend and I have just recently settled on a block of land and will be building a house. I'm thinking now that we will have our own home and alot more space that I cant get another ragdoll.

For those who have three cats in their house... how do you find it? Is it much crazier than two?

The reasons I am a bit in doubt about it are :

1. pussa is still not completely confident with edward. She loves to play with him, but only if there is a barrier between them (playing underneath a slightly closed door, sitting on a chair while edward is underneath pawing at her, or if edward is in a box they also paw at eachother. they also chase eachother around, but she still hisses and swipes at him if he touches her) ... in saying that though - she has relaxed so much from having edward there, i really think that she will be able to accept another kitten.

2. my friends and family already think i'm a crazy cat lady. I talk about them all the time, look up cat furniture almost every day and everyone thinks having 2 cats is pretty crazy already.... my excuse though is that we will be moving from a 1 floor 3 bedroom house, to a 2 storey 5 bedroom house. The cats will have more room and therefore wont be noticed as much.

what does everyone think?
of course they will be indoor cats only so they will be around all the time but i really want to get one to play with edward. puss puss would love to be an only cat. she loves to sit on laps now or cuddle up and watch tv whereas edward is still crazy as a kitten and cries for her to play with him.

the house should be finished by christmas - what perfect timing!! hahaha
Two cats hardly qualifies you for "the crazy cat lady" category.
IMHO, you need at least 5 for that, and you need to be single and completely prefer your cats to all other lifeforms.

I think, 3 cats aren't any more difficult than two depending on the cat's purrsonalities and how willing other household members are to tolerate them.
I have 4 cats, and honestly, other than the litter box duty, its no different than having 2 cats. Their personalities are all different, and even if they all looked exactly alike, I could still tell them apart because of their personalities.

Everyone calls me a crazy cat lady too.. I only SORT of deserve it because I mean... hello... 5 cats, AND I'm part of my area's TNR program so I go out and collect strays off the streets, speuter them, then release them again.
Wow, have you come to the wrong place to ask about getting another one!! I only have two indoors, but would love more -- it just wouldn't work for me because of my girls' personalities, and I know that. So...hey....go for it -- combination house warming present, and Christmas present!
Hahaha definitely the wrong place to ask.... But maybe that's why i did! hehehehe

I'd love to have another. Originally I thought it would be a bad idea because of puss puss' personality, but since shes had edward shes changed and loosened up alot and i really think she would copeSmile

Of course, i am definetly thinking I'll have to give them some time to get used to the new house. Rather than moving them into a new one and suprising them with a new friend... Although - i think edward would love it.

I'm also thinking of another boy. I know alot of people say gender doesnt really affect their personality, but I think puss puss might accept a new little one if it was a neutured boy. No girly competition?? I'm not really sure though.

My boyfriend loves cats aswell and says he wouldn't have a problem with it. Originally he thought that they might gang up on Puss Puss, but i thought she would like it because they would be playing with eachother and not bothering her. And she could just get her cuddles from us like she loves.
What do you think about that? Does anyone have problems with cats ganging up on others?
Puss Puss is definetly the more dominant one so i dont really see that happening?

Definetly the best housewarming present ever. I'm more excited about it now than the actual house! hahahaha!
meghan i just love the expression of edward in your avatar! i think you're spot on about getting a little boy to keep edward company and free up miss puss. i rent so i'm not able to get another just yet, but everyone is telling me to get a little boy or submissive adult since Finn is a pretty placid girl and would definitely get bullied.
Hahaha! he was being naughty in that photo. I had laid out some clean pajamas and underwear over that basket to dry overnight and found him sleeping in it in the morning.... why is it always the clean clothes!

Yay so lots of you agree! My friends will think i'm crazy, but whats one more going to do. I was in contact with breeders a couple of months ago so i will let everyone know how im going. Just depends on how long they take to build the house I guess.

Oh I'm excited!
Cats all have their own personalities. Its hard to know how they will mix. Eventually they work it out and all get along...don't they?
Well, now. I agree with so many here. Most of us have more than 2 cats. (shhh... I have 5 indoor cats and a feral that adopted us some years ago - another story as no longer feral!). Now I had got down to just 2 indoor cats (and Jet our outdoor cat) having lost another of my Persians 3yrs ago this New Years Eve, and my friend was a breeder of Raggies... She had a litter of 5 kittens, 3yrs ago, and me being me, went and bought 3 of them. I can honestly say, I have no regrets at all. My Bluepoint may chew all my electrical wires that he can find, my sealpoint is just plain wicked and my bi-colour is a dream boy. I love them all to bits and they can get away with anything. So as long as you have the room for them, the time to give them and the money for the vet bills, then 'go-for-it', I say.
Well I just got a third cat as I really wanted another raggie... I looked for a cat who could be a good addition for both my birman and my other raggie. At the beginning things looked good as both cats had accepted the little one... Now I realize that my birman really dislikes Ebony. He doesn't attack him but growls, groans and hissing several times a day. They do play together and most of the time tolerate each other, but it certainly put a little strain in our relationships. Diwan is the only one who gets along with both. Whereas Ebony doesn't seem too concerned about being ignored or hissed at by Cyrano (he tries to make friends several times a day as he is very pushy), Cyrano at times seems a little depressed about the little intruder.
Ebony and Diwan gang up together that's for sure. They have a lot in common and sometimes they completely forget about Cyrano. But it isn't always the case. Diwan does play with Cyrano too and Ebony keeps trying to make C his friend.

Do I regret having taken Ebony? No I don't. He is a little darling and all I could hope for in a third cat (he likes to cuddle and to be held). He is a little crazy and brings a lot of joy. I wanted a very lively kitten as Cyrano looked bored with Diwan who is very laid-back to say the least. But now it seems he is a little too pushy and while Diwan has a lot of patience and calm, Cyrano doesn't... He has become clingier and more demanding.
Two days ago when I gave the little one a bath he screamed like a banshee to the point Diwan was banging at the door to get in and rescue his little brother. Even Cyrano was there to make sure I hadn't hurt him and he gave him a nose rub... So I guess there is hope for them to get along one day. But it might take mighty long...
