Hellooooo,
now i know most peoples answers are going to be get another get another. oh and trust me i would love another.
Q1. for those that have had one ragdoll for awhile then got another does the first ragdoll seem happier? do they cry less when you leave?
Q2. if we were to get another we have two options currently breeder in my town has got some gorgeous girls ready middle of july. and the breeder i have been waiting for her cats to give birth first one should give birth this week, but the problem lays that by the time they are old enough to come home titan will be about 7 months of age. is it better to get a brother/sister that is closer to their age??
thanks everyone
xx
Those age differences will make little difference. In general, cats like feline company and this is particularly true of Ragdolls.
I would suggest get another not because you badly want one, but because it would benefit Titan alot when you or your hubby arent home.
Humphrey was alone for a long time before Missy came along - and he would cry and cry when I was at work, often came home to the neighbours being grumpy because they could hear him through the walls haha.
Since we got Missy, Humphrey has calmed down alot - his constantly got someone there to play with or sleep with when he needs the cuddle time. (Not so sure about now cause she's being a twat)
All I guess I can say is if you have the money to pay afford another cat, not just food - but the vet bills if needed and you can ensure you give the same amount of love and care to both when you are home then GO FOR IT!
Bare in mind that age doesnt really matter - before we bought Missy I was going to buy a gorgeous 4 year old Maine Coon from the shelter but someone had already put a deposit on him, the shelter lady said age doesnt matter because I was also concerned that the cats should be the same age. Missy is still a couple months older than Humphrey but like Jan said cats love the company of cats no matter what age.
At the start there was a bit of hissing and growling but a couple days later they were good friends - just make sure when you do get your new kitten or cat that you spend a couple days with both, and introduce them very slowly so they get to know eachother. We had Missy meet Humphrey through the cat carrier, then we swapped their beds around so Missy could smell Humphrey's bed and vice versa.
Alsooooo just think of all the extra love and attention you'll get when they try to play "Who's Mummy/Daddy's favourite" - its absolutely adorable when Missy and Humphrey fight for the cuddle time
GO FOR IT BABEEEE !!!
I have never regretted getting a 2nd one.
I have a boy 14 months old and a girl 10 months old. They are still individuals and where the boy sleeps with my son every night the girl sleeps with us. It is like having 2x single cats who give us all their attention and love then turn to each other for company and play when we are not around. They both have completely different personalities that complement each other. It makes for a very happy and content household.
It feels like the family is complete with the 2, and I have no inclination to get a 3rd.
I also believe age is no barrier. Good luck and happy bonding.
I had a lone Raggie untul he was 5 yrs old.
He was on his own 3-4 days per week and although healthy and happy when we were spending time with him, he was never that happy when we left him and also very occassionally let off his excess energy in a not very appropriate way. I always worried that however much i wanted another raggie ... would Eddie be unhappy if i bought another cat into HIS home? He was used to being centre of attention for 5 yrs being the only pet in a no children household ......
Introductions of the new raggie kitten went really well and although Eddie showed a huge interest in Monty's 'male parts'

there was no major fallouts, just the normal finding eachothers place in the home ...
Eddie's personality changed for a while, he no longer sought us out for so much attention as he had a little friend to wash and cuddle up to ... 4 years on, i have never regretted getting a friend for Eddie and another raggie for us ... they spend as much time apart as they do together and they have very different personalities and I LOVE having 2 raggies in our home
I hope this has been of some help to you as I was in the same situation as you a few years ago
