We've had alot of questions on how to add photos to the ragdollcatguide.com forum. First, if you haven't done already you should join photobucket.com.

Photobucket.com allows free image and video hosting and you can create links to display your personal photos that we can use in the ragdoll forum. You can also upload edit photos, and reduce file sizes which comes in handy for posting on the ragdoll forum. You may want to consider upgrading your account if you have alot of photos or videos to host there, it is well worth it.

Once you have joined photobucket, you want to use the system to import your photos and create links to them. We won't go into the details of how to use photobucket, but they have an excellent help system. Click on their 'help' link for frequently asked questions and tutorials that will guide you on what to do.

Once your photos are uploaded to photobucket you can use them in avatars, signature files, and thread posts on the ragdoll forum. Here are some quick instructions on how to do each:

Adding an avatar

An avatar is your profile photo, or the small square photo that appears below your name on posts. Here are the steps to add an avatar for your profile:

1. Click on 'usercp' for your user control panel
2. Under 'my profile' on the left menu click on 'change avatar'
3. You have the choice of uploading an avatar from your computer or using an avatar URL. Please note that avatars should not exceed 100x100 pixels in height or width, and smaller than 50kb in file size if you are uploading. Photobucket can help you reduce the file sizes of photos if you are uploading your own. If you want to use a photo you have in photobucket already, you would enter the address of the photo from photobucket in the 'avatar URL' field.

Adding a photo to your signature

1. Click on 'usercp' for your user control panel
2. Under 'my profile' on the left menu click on 'change signature'
3. Signatures use 'mycode' instead of html to reference links and images. To insert an image you have to have your photo stored somewhere like photobucket. Wrap the URL with mycode image tags, or [img][/img], so it would look something like this for example:

Code:
[img]http://www.ragdollcatguide.com/images/banner.jpg[/img]

Result:

Adding a photo to a post

1. Start a thread or reply to a current post.
2. In the 'your message' section there is an area to enter text and an image button that you want to click on.
3. When you click on the image button a box pops up asking for the URL of your image. This will be the path to where your photo is stored on photobucket or other photo sharing service or web host. You can also attach a photo to the post by clicking on 'browse' beside new attachment and then 'add attachment'. We recommend that you use the URL linking method as this saves resources on our server. Also when you link from photobucket you don't have to be concerned with file sizes!

We hope this tutorial has been helpful...see you in the forums!
