I was looking around on the ragdoll cat guide (not the forum - just the website http://www.ragdollcatguide.com) and found the following link which has a cool video about brushing your cats teeth and how to get them started...just wanted to share (just scroll down a little ways and you'll see the video)

Thanks Teresa,I'll have to ...that a try with cello.
Do you brush your girls teeth?
I never tried to brush Cello teeth. I have tried to look in his mouth and... he was not to happy with me.
I think I'll try tomorrow when he is sleepy he may be more tolerant.I usually catch him when he,s sleepy and trim his nails,, that seems to work pretty good with him.
Mine don't like it either but I have decided they needed it once a week at least. So we started again last week. With the little one I still use gauze and with the other two I combined both. None of them was happy... The worst was Cyrano who behaved as though he was choking. I could barely reach his molars. Diwan behaved better but he is bigger so he is not that easy to get in a comfortable and efficient position.
i give titan chicken necks for his dnetal hygiene. thats what they say to do. i havent tried brushing his teeth yet lol
I hate to admit, but I haven't brushed my girls' teeth -- I'm afraid they're too old to start! I did start feeding them the Science Diet Oral Care in hopes that helps. I just posted the toothbrushing thing because I thought it might interest some....
Chicken necks are perfect for cleaning teeth but they are not that easy to get here (or I'm just useless Big Grin ).
I never understood how kibble is supposed to clean our cats' teeth. There are some treats that are harder, bigger and contain more more fibers... I kinda get how those can help a little... but regular sized kibble? I'm not sure. Hills usually makes really small kibble...
Teresa, do you see a difference?
The Oral Care kibble is larger than the usual size, and the girls HAVE to chew it. It's also kind of wasteful because I get alot of smaller crumbs back into the bowl that I throw out. Whereas the other type of food I keep down for them they can eat it whole without hearing a crunch. I can always hear them eating the Oral Care though because you hear the crunches!! And they actually prefer it to the other kibble I give them. I free feed both in different bowls.
We use a poultry flavored toothpaste by CET. It has enzymes in it that aid in the breaking down of plaque. So they say. The cat likes the taste and will kind of chew on the brush as I move it around his mouth. Don't think you are going to get as thorough a job as when you brush your own teeth!
