I am a huge softie and all my cats have the run of the house. They all can sleep where they like. The first night with 3 raggie kittens on the bed was difficult. My husband is a light sleeper and every move he woke, whereas me, I sleep through anything and they can jump on me or whatever and I just sleep. My husband can't understand it. Anyhow, apparently (so I am told) every morning from about 6am onwards (even weekends...lol) they go on the rampage, pulling items out of bins, jumping on boxes, and bringing toys into the room, the 3 of them play chase and run across the bed to reach the window... All great fun, but I miss it all. I couldn't stop my guys from sleeping with us. Oh and of course Jamie, our Persian sleeps on the bed with us too!
Thank you! I will try him with me at first. If it doesn't work, he may sleep with one of the children...I just don't want them awake all night! I have wonderful memories of my old Himalayan Hershey sleeping with me on cold winter nights up by my head and hearing his deep resonant purr. It was so soothing to me. Eventually I would like him to have the roam of the house to sleep with whomever he likes (I have 3 kids) but essentially I am getting Jasper because I want the cat. My hubby isn't that thrilled but I know once he sees him, he will be won over!
All of my cats have the choice of sleeping on my bed. Any kittens born at home are born and kept in my bedroom so for the first 6 weeks all of the other cats are banished but it doesn't seem to bother them, they just curl up together in the hall and on the stairs.
When we had a really cold night a couple of months ago I woke up because I couldn't move, there were 11 cats on the bed with us!! Then, when I went to stay at Anita's last weekend I called my husband on saturday to see how he was getting on and he had been kept awake all night because once again, all of the cats had decided he needed company and 2 of them, Baby and Evie, had even gone under the covers to keep him warm :-)
Puff used to sleep between us, in bed, but now it seems he is more comfortable on a pillow (now his) on the floor, in our bedroom. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, I pick him up and bring him back to our bed, but 9 out of 10 times,he will stay awhile and then jump back to his bed (the pillow). I guess that is what he will do from now on. He is
now 15 lbs., so pretty soon he will need the king size pillow for his bed!!
Zeke sleeps with me on my pillow or above my head. Mykah has not joined us yet since they have not been totally introduced. I am going to begin bringing Mykah in but in his carrier since it is big. Zeke purrs very loud for about the first half hour and then sleeps til about 6:30 and then he goes out to the other room and I finish sleeping alone. Love him with me.
Maia and Lily sleep on the bed. They love it during the week when it's just me and them, but when hubby Dave comes home at the weekend they are not amused!!! I love waking in the night and hearing that instant purring as soon as they realise I'm awake. They're much better behaved in the morning now ....there was a time when I considered keeping them out the bedroom as I would be woken at 5am by Lily nibbling/ nipping me to get me awake (not the most gentle ways to wake up, especially if she burrowed under the covers) but I'm glad we persevered.
