i know it is expensive in the uk but:
sorry girls jack did cost £300 in 2000
and charley was a rehome
With cost one needs to consider whether or not the the alter (spay or neuter) is included, age of pet (older is usually less expensive), and location. Even within the USA there is a variance of price due to vet costs and supply and demand. If shipping is involved that will add $250-$300 for the price as well.

Generally in NC USA pet prices including the alter is $700-$800.
I paid $800 CAD for Teddy in early 2008 (he's a male, blue bi-colour) and that included neuter, vaccinations and a nice starter kit with food, etc. I've been very lucky - the breeder is well respected and she's been very helpful.

The most expensive item I've bought for him is his cat tree. I think it was about $150 CAD, which he got last fall. It's been a great investment though - I highly recommend a carpeted tree (or cat condo) for anyone who doesn't have one!
JenC Wrote:OK' I'm not sure if it's a language issue or I'm just being dim (probably the latter Big Grin ) but what's a 'cat condo?'

I'm in Alberta Canada and the condo (as Danilou)is a multi-level cat tree. There is a sling and a top perch as well as a platform and the posts are wrapped in Sisal. He(Huggy)uses all of it now except for the cubby hole(or hiding place). He is simply too big to fit in it.lol.He even has a ladder. I never in my life spent that much money on one animal but I love him and he's worth it.Yes,that is what the people paid for him.I certainly wouldn't have been able to afford him.lol
I had the chance to adopt a blue tortie Ragdoll from same breeder I got my blue point. We thought it over long & hard on deciding which one to adopt but ended up choosing the blue point only because she was the only one who would play with my son almost right away(the blue tortie was my blue point's sister). The blue tortie was too skittish and wouldn't come out of her hiding place. LOL!! All her kittens were $600.

Oh I know all about blue torties and 'skittishness' .....Rolleyes What is it with the torties? They certainly have a reputation which they love living up to!!! Is there anyone out there with a quiet tortie?
