Today was my follow up visit with the Vet 2 weeks after I adopted Fay from somone who wasn't giving her the attention and care she needed. As soon as she came out of the carrier the Vet said she looked like a new cat and the office tech was saying she's a REALLY bueatiful cat. Her coat looks so much better.

They wanted her to gain weight. She was only 8.34 pounds two weeks ago but she's eaten herself up to 9.2 pounds in that time. She's off all meds. They said not to bother with the antihistimes becasue her skin is much better, she's wildly alergic to fleas so it only took a few bites to cause a real poblem.

When she got out of the carier at home I thought I was forgiven for the betrayal of a Vet visit but I'm back on probabtion. After a quick pet I was walking to the kitchen and she darted between my legs and caught a light blow from a loafer in the head. She's shying away from my hands now but did accept a hand feeding so I should be her buddy again by tomorrow.

Right now she looks like Punk Kitty with the spiked fur where they put on Advantage.
Davethat;s just great news it sounds like she is off to a wonderfull start with you.Did the vet say how much waight she needs to gain?
Oh it's great she improved so quickly Big Grin She will forgive you soon
That's great news -- and I think we need more pics now --- please?????
I agree with Teresa - more photos please!! You are doing such a fantastic job we need to see the difference.
She forgave me within minutes and we were in a petting and purr fest. I think she's trying to get me to pet the flea stuff off but the vet told me not to pet her head for 24 hours.

I did some shopping and decided she needed a toy for her good vet visit. When I got back she hopped into an empty laundry basket and was having a ball. Aside from a brown paper bag I picked up the 'Madcap Mouse' refillable catnip toy at Publix. There isn't even any catnip in it yet and she's been killing it and throwing it around the house. I'm not sure Madcap Mouse will survive long enough to be filled with catnip.

I'm being called. She's sitting patiently behind me letting out a few mew-purrs.

Amazing cat, worth the fortune in Vet bills.

The vet didn't say how much she wants her to weigh but she's putting weight on fast and we're back next month for vaccines. The way she eats she'll probably be in a diet after the next visit.
She's already weighing more than one of my girls (Samantha) but then again Samantha is a very petite ragdoll. Simone weighs about 13 pounds. I think you probably have a ways to go with her. Has your vet ever treated ragdolls before? Some vets seem to think they are obese when they aren't. They naturally have a fat pad that hangs down. I'm sure her weight will level off at a good point for her.
My Vet knew a lot about Ragdolls and she's a cat only specialist (okay, she treats the occasional bunny). Right now she's got me fattening her up but the way Fay eats I'm guessing that at some point she'll say 'enough'. Fay has quite an appetite. I know the females should run between 10 and 15 pounds. She's gained almost 1 lb in 14 days though I bet a lot of that was rehydration.

I never remember to grab a camera. She looked so pretty today when she was playing in the laundry basket under a sunbeam and looked up with those intense blue eyes.
Ok, it's obvious you need to learn the rules of owning a raggie - you always keep a camera very close at hand - batteries charged, memory stick in (with space), and take at least 25 pics at a time to get that perfect pic - then post!!
wow congrats.
im so glad shes doin better.
she sounds absolutely amazing.
keep up the good work.
