hello,
does anyone know if all kittens with cleft pallette's are put to sleep? or are they still able to live??
All I have heard of were put to sleep... I know there is a procedure that can save them but it is very costly and time consuming as normal feeding cannot take place.
You need to have a vet evaluate the severity. And the vet should euthanize if there is no hope. If that is not necessary, then the vet can show you how to tube feed, which bypasses the defect.
ok, its sad to have to do it, thankyou for your replies

Im very sorry.
we are going to see the vet tommorrow, if there is a chance of survival, we may decide to nurse it thru its first weeks or months. we really want to keep it alive. but not if its gonna have a bad life. i will post up the info as soon as we know, tthanks to everyone again
Oh gosh! I heart goes out for you. Good luck and I pray it can be surgically corrected. Sometimes nature can be so cruel
Can you see it? Are you sure that is what it is?
i'm sad to say the poor kitten died at 9am this morning, we had a vet appointment for 9.30. but the poor thing was very cold late last night. and he didn't make it. he just could not feed, and he gave up and just wanted to be cuddled. bless his heart. RIP
I'm so sorry for your loss.
