well got Shylo to go for me this morning, took her to new vet, said she has a urinrary tract infection. They keep her for a few hours to go threw the bladder for another sample to send to a lab, 70 miles away to test for crystals and UTI. Gave her a shot that cost 40.00 and pills, Baytril 22 for 10 days and need another sample since they try to go into bladder with needle to get more but wasn`t enough, so I got to go back. Told me to put her in a closed room till we get it under control.
Funny the old vet called when I got home to see how see was doing and he got her prozac
Wow, thank heaven someone finally found something huh? You said they got a sample straight from the bladder or you have to take her back for another sample?
It just amazes me how vets do things all different. When my vet took the first sample from Websters bladder, I wonder why he didn't have it analyzed right then and there. I got alot of questions for that vet of mine when I call him on Monday.
Glad to hear Shilo is on her way to recovery. I know it will make everyone involved a lot happier!

Awww,Hopefully she will start to fill much better.
Did the vet say how long it will take meds to work?Hopefully not to long.
I know it sounds weird to say this - but that's great news!! That means that her peeing problem probably truly is related to pain when she urinates and you can train her back to the litter box. Good for you going to a new vet and finally getting an answer!!!! No telling how long she's had it.
Well, I do know she had it for the 10 months I had her and before that, that`s why they gave her up.Susie, I took my own collected urine in and they tested it for tract infection and they saw something about the white cells and they had me leave her for a few hours and they tried to collect more from her bladder with the needle and her bladder wasn`t full enough for a sample to go to lab. So I got to take another sample in next week to be sent away.
Linda, they have her on meds for ten days till we get the results from the lab test and we will go from there.
I got to say Shylo has gone more in her box today then she has ever gone, usually it is the rug.

Sounds like your making some headway! I know you must be happy happy!
Maybe the shot kicked in quickly. If she's not avoiding her box all the time, but is still going in it, maybe she'll realize it really doesn't hurt anymore and keep going back!! hang in there -- we're all here for you!
Sad she's sick, but happy you now know she does in deed have a problem! I'm curious what you told the old vet when he called? Did you say, hey, she has a UTI!!! I know with my kid, when she went outside the box she had a problem and UTI's were it. I'm sure Shylo will be getting some relief very soon with the meds, but if it's been a long standing problem, they may have to go a bit longer then 10 days to clear this up. It's good they'll recheck her so they can see that the meds are indeed helping.
Hang in there and so happy you have found a vet that at least identified the problem. Way to go mom. Perserverance does pay off.

Thanks Diane!! She said the test that goes off to the lab will tell what meds would be needed next.
