Good Morning Everyone:

I have a 4 yr old ragdoll that I adopted 6 weeks ago. I have taken her to vets, and she has no fleas, but she's scratching alot, especially around her neck. I'm currently feeding her Iams premium and fancy feast.....which she loves !! I need some advice...please help !!
There are vet dermatologists and it may be worth a visit to one. Your vet should be able to tell you who is closest.
I'm not an expert, but I have heard that scratching or itching or scabs around the neck area can be the result of a food allergy (or possibly another kind). Maybe changing her food to one higher in some of the omega 3 fatty acids in it that help their coats? or maybe even a supplement of it.
By the way--- welcome to the forum and I hope we get to see pics of the raggie you adopted!!

Any suggestions ?
Do you know what she was fed before and if she had this problem then?

No But I'm in constant contact from the rescue I got her from. Her name is Snowflake, and she's a tortie point ragdoll......very adorable, and she's a hugger !! She'll hug you when you pick her up !!
Perfect timing for this thread as I am just now dealing with the same scratching around the neck (this past week) with Molly and was about to post the same question. I have checked and checked her for fleas, but since there isn't any sign of that, I didn't know what else it could be.

I have changed her food (2 weeks ago) so I will definitely take a look at the food (Hill's C/D for her urinary tract disease) and see what changes or supplement I may need to do.
Check out the Science Diet Sensitive Skin -- here's a link to it on the website:

I'm sure there are others too. Just remember if you're going to switch over foods, do it slowly so it doesn't cause a gastric upset.

I just sent a message to the rescue I got her from, but they told me they were giving her fancy feast, but I don't remember what dry food she was being given. She doesn't have any urinary tract issues....I was having some litter box issues, but they are nor resolved....but now she started scratching around her neck. She does wear a collar, so that I'll know where she is since she hid alot when we first got her, but now she cuddles with us every night !
