Wow - gorgeous cats!
I am sorry to hear about your sister's loss of Ash, but I am happy that she has Ayla. Smile
I am new here myself, welcome!

Just a quick question, have any of you ever lost a cat while neutering it? The vet said it was probably related to the fact he was a ragdoll, which I don't really believe! He acted like purebred cats die all the time and it wasn't a huge shock. I honestly think he botched the surgery... at the tiem we were too upset and full of grief to pursue what exactly happened. It also was in the middle of my parents' divorce and my little sister was only a senior in high school. Was really tough for her..

Yes, unfortunately I have known of kittens to die during neutering, but it is not something just with purebreds! Anesthesia is difficult on many cats. I know of a champion ragdoll that died while having his teeth cleaned. Just as it is a risk to a human any time they go into surgery with anesthesia, the same is true for cats.
My first kitten (from a shelter) died while being spayed, reportedly from a bad reaction to anesthesia, despite having been under it with no ill effects before. Anesthesia is basically poison that only half kills you temporarily. There are always risks, whether an animal being desexed or a human having their wisdom teeth out. You hear about it sometimes, but it really is quite rare, considering how often anesthesia is used without complications. It doesn't necessarily mean anyone did anything wrong, it just happens sometimes and it really is that much harder because you don't have anyone to blame.
What a tub of love!!! LOL Welcome... I hold very high respect for any who adopts. I call my house the zoo LOL
My DIL cat died during this procedure on a Domestic cat. Later they found out it was the fault of the vet as he overdosed it and also found out hers was not the first.
