Atrus will be one year old in less than a month. I was planning to take him to the vet around then, but what exactly do I need to have done??

Does he need more shots? Boosters? Which? He had the standard 3-in-1 or whatever series as a kitten and I don't think anything else. I want to get him rabies finally (simply because we may need to get a sitter at some point and wouldn't they require that?) but I know not to do it at the same time as other shots.

He has not been in for anything, since there have been no concerns, since the few times he was in in the summer when we first got him. What sort of general health things should I make sure the vet does?
It should say on the vaccination card you have what he needs and when. At least thats what mine has.
Jake has to get a booster around a year after he had his last kitten vaccination. Thats June and he turned one on February 7th. So I dont think Atrus should need anything yet, maybe speak to your vet and ask what they recommend.
When we go for a one year old checkup the vet looks at the eyes, ears, feels the internal organs, and listens to the heart and lungs. If needed the booster shot is given at this time. Rabies is given prior to 4- 6 months of age and therefore a booster on that is not needed until a year from the last shot. This does vary by state.
You should have the annual wellness exam just before the anniversary of the last kitten 3/1 shot - at about age 1 year and four months. Then you will have the first annual booster of the 3/1. You will need the next booster in three years. You can also get the first rabies shot then. You will need a first annual booster of the rabies a year later and then it too will likely be on a 3 year booster cycle.
