I have a question about ragdoll cats. I have a cat that I know is a orange tabby that has tiger pattern markings, but the one thing I don't understand is Bobby (my cat) has some characteristics of the ragdoll. Like he goes 'spineless' when he's beind held half the time. I asked his vet about the 'spineless' thing and the vet wasn't to sure about how to find out without doing a blood test. M[/color]y question is: other than a blood test is there any way to find out if Bobby is part ragdoll?
Don't quote me on this but I don't think there's a specific blood type for Ragdolls. It is based on markings and characteristics. You could look at the Cat federation website to check what kind of standards there are, and see if your cat shows any similarities.
It would be like giving us a blood test to determine what nationality we are.
Janene is right...but also there are many cats that do have ragdoll characteristics (even looking like them) but are not. My first cat was a stray and looked and acted like a ragdoll, but I'm sure was not (you just don't find stray ragdolls...). However, when Simon died, the characteristics he had are what lead me to get two ragdoll cats.
