We have two beautiful boys, brothers from the same litter. Lately I've been thinking a lot about extending the fur family by one. You know I never knew there were so many beautiful colours in the Ragdoll breed, I've learnt so much since joining online forums. I would love a new baby in one of the lovely mitted colours.

Anyway, to cut to the chase. Our babies Merlin and Caesar are not the best at sharing our attention. They can often get jealous of our human guests and cut in between us stomping around on our laps or smooching up in between our friends and us. So my question is, do you think it would be possible to introduce another kitten into the house? The last thing I want to do is upset my boys. But I don't want to chance buying a kitten and risking an injury because of over jealous boys.

Advice is greatly appreciated.
In terms of dominance, there is very likely no problem because kittens rarely vie for dominance anyway - and it is just a matter of the dominant cat assuring herself about the kitten understanding that. As for "warning off" other cats who seek your attention and competition for time in the sun from the family, that can happen. It does not necessarily mean all are not happy, however. I am not sure anyone can give you advice about it because it is an issue of your current cats and you know them better than anyone else.
Thanks Jan.
The boys have never had to live by themselves as they've always had eachother since birth. I guess I'm just worried because of this that they may "gang up" on a new kitten. I suppose any new member is going to have to adjust and take his or her place in the pecking line. Caesar, the bigger of my two boys is the less dominant, even though he is quite larger in size to Merlin, Merlin definately is the head of the fur household. So, he is the one I question....Caesar I think won't be fussed either way.
You could always get TWO new kittens from the same litter. Then your cats will be in pairs incase your boys do end up ignoring or 'ganging up' on your new kitten. Wink
Lol, I don't think that excuse will go over with my husband...

But hmmm, might be worth a try! Wink
