Hi all, have a question, I recently joined this great site when I ran across my Raggy in a freecycle post. I was soo excited, and now that I have her we are having a few issues, now we expected this, she is around 3 years old and we believe she has been abused somewhere along the line. She is very affectionate, and I cannot go anywhere in the house without her, she even tolerates the dog, better than I do (he he), the problem that we are having is that she will not make poo in her litter box, she will go on the carpet beside it, but not in it, I thought perhaps she didn't like the lid, so I took it off, no change. She is using the box for her urine. I put down a papertowel last night, thinking she had been paper trained or something, and she still made poo on the carpet and then used the paper towel to cover it. She is a clever minx. I love her, and I will not ever part with her, but the cleaning of poo every morning is getting a little old. Please, any suggestions?
How many litter boxes do you have? Just one? One of my girls refuses to do both her jobs in the same box. She pees in one and poops in another. If my other cat has peed in the box, she won't go in it either - always the other one. Try putting down another litter box with some space between them maybe?
thanks Teresa, she went when we first got her, but I will try the 2 box approach and see what happens. Happy Holidays
The best site for links to get information and ideas to correct things like this is tallyville. You should look in both the litterbox issues section and in the section on converting an outdoor cat to an indoor one, which may be an issue in your case depending on what is known about the time before you.
