This morning I woke up and greeted all the kittens, they are a little over 3 weeks old. On one of the kittens chest area, there was a raised lump, it felt like liquid, so I assume pus. We called our vet immediately, and he said bring her on in. The sore burst before arriving at the vet, leaving just a small visible sore. The vet looked at her and said it was most likely a scratch or bite that became infected, and to just wash the area with soap and water. However, he also gave antibiotics to give, if needed. She is eating well, no fever or visable trouble, so I feel I should just stay with soap and water and wait to see if the antibiotics are needed.
I have to say, I was very worried when I first felt the area, but our vet has reassured me.
I thought I would share our eventful day.Smile

That must have been a little scary too. Hope all continues to go well for the little one now!
I hate it when things like this happen. Glad it wasn't serious.
We'll keep fingers and paws crossed the little one will thrive with no ill effects....
It was very scary.Rolleyes I am a worrier by nature, so I am sure I overreacted, but it was a dime size lump that was fairly large for this 3 week old.
She is doing great, I check on the babies frequently, they are in a nest beside my bed. We actually have had one adventurer starting to make his way out.Smile I keep checking the small sore, cleaning it, but it looks fine. No fever or other signs that would concern me, so I think things are going to turn out just fine.
I know we were recently speaking to another poster about a mysterious knot, and it happens in our family.
Thank you all for the well wishes.Smile

That sounds scary!

I'm currently taking antibiotics myself for a nasty cat scratch that went deep and became infected. Gotta respect our fur babies!

I'm glad that your little one is doing well!
Ouch, I am glad you got to a doctor and was placed on antibiotics. I hope you heal quickly.

The little girl is healing nicely, the scab has healed, and now it has left a small dot on her chest, that hair needs to grow back over. Thankfully, we kept it clean, and she never needed antibiotics to help with healing.

Here are some recent photos of her, now at 4 weeks old, you can see the spot in one photo, it is on HER right side. She looks identical to her Mom, Serafina. We are enjoying having kittens around again.

Heal quickly!!Smile
