Im just curious. I have been looking into a lot of litter pan covers as I am thinking of getting another cat and therefor think I should add a litter pan. I am trying to decided where to keep it. So....was looking for some ideas?
so...where do you keep your litter pans? and what kind do you use? covered? corner? automatic?
I use covered litter pans in the hallway corners and one in the sunroom where the cats like to hang out. For younger kittens I use an open litterpan but soon they graduate to the covered box. I put a mat in front of the pan to catch excess litter that may come out and still be on their paws when they exit the box.
I have a covered litter box. It is kept in the bathroom.
I have two big litterboxes, down in plastic tubs but with the tops off -- I keep them on the outside enclosed deck and the girls use a cat door out of the house to get to them. They are right by the cat door.
I have a covered one, keep it up in our bedroom for now as Pebbles seems to like it a little to much.lol
I have a covered one in my office and an open one downstairs in the laundry room.
We have the big one I posted on another thread (the storage bin) and keep it in the spare bathroom at the back of our condo, uncovered. The new smaller one for Maddy is still in the bedroom as she likes to sleep near us and it's closer to the central area of the condo.. it too us uncovered. Dolly seems to have adopted it as a place to pee but uses the back one to poo.
Oh... And Dolly did the cutest thing.. Maddy has been having soft bowel movements the past two days so we're lifting her out of the litter box as soon as she's done so she doesn't soil herself. Well, today, as soon as Gregg lifted her out, Dolly started to climb into the box and we both yelled "Dolly No!" as we were afraid she'd step in it! But all she did was take one paw and cover Maddy's little pile

What a Good Big Sis! We were so proud of her! Here we thought she was going to make a mess and all she was trying to do was help clean up

I have the Scoop free crystals automatic litter box, which I keep on one end of my enclosed closet. It's AWESOME. Doesn't smell, which I was really scared about, since the rake turns on 15 min. after Henri goes potty. It's quiet as well. Doesn't wake me when I'm sleeping. And doesn't bother Henri as well. best investment EVER!!! Just change the tray once a month!
I have a LitterRobot, which works well for my 11 lb domestic shorthair, but my 5 mo ragdoll kitty tends to step in his own poop when using it. I also imagine he'll grow way too big to fit in the portal in the future, and am seriously considering toilet training.
But to answer your question -- in the hallway, by my shoes (which may not be such a great idea as sometimes I find litter bits in my shoe!)
We have two trays butted up next to each other acting as one really,
They are kept in the laundry room at the end of the hallway,
We did have enclosed ones but they are just not big enough for raggies and also found Niki would be end up stepping in it due to lack of room to negotiate and properly cover her deposit,
As an extension to this thread just wondering what litter you use as ours doesnt really have a great smell retension and does tend to follow our raggies down the hallway,
