would a female be better off staying home and I bring the male to her and vice versa?
what do you prefer?
male coming to your house or female going to male house coz I read somewhere that the male is more sucessful in familar surroundings
Well.. it depends on the cats.
Angel is one who cannot be moved while in heat. It'll throw her out of heat and she'll take another 6 weeks off.
Stella on the other hand couldnt care less... she's a dirty girl tho and will have her bum in the air throughout the car ride LOL
Shylo was iffy... she'd be scared about travel but not so much once she got there, she'd be fine.
So the male we had, we brought him to us for Angel and Shylo, and he was fine.. he was sooo interested in doin' his thing that he didnt care that he had just moved from one place to another.
Another male wouldnt perform because he was scared.
so... it depends on the cat. I recommend bringing the female to the male tho if you can as its got a higher success rate in general. Just not on MY cats lol
No matter the alternative, with an inexperienced queen you can expect failure either way.

I do realize that stud service is more "accepted" in other countries. Many breeders, including my own cattery, are closed catteries, and will not use other males, nor will we allow others to use our males. I wouldn't be of any help in this area.
I guess if I had to choose, I would bring the stud to my home and let the queen be comfortable in her home. I would ask that the breeder let the stud stay for a short while, to get both cats aquainted and then when she comes into heat, hope for the best.
Best Wishes.

For the most part, a lot of catteries are closed in Ontario as well.
The stud owner only let me do it because we're close friends.
I also didnt have my own male at the time either, and was uninterested in keeping one... but then I got sick of the $1000 stud service and said that I'd keep my own male thank you very much. lol
In the UK it is more often and "the norm" for the queens to go to the stud - very rare is it vice versa as if you are registered with GCCF I think you have to advise them officially that the stud is at other premises other than that of the stud owners.
