They got that stupid conjunctivitis again, but its not as bad this time as it was last time, the pics were all taken as they were waking up, when the pink-eye looks its worst. They're finishing up the last of the bottle that they had before, and they're starting a new med for it. I figured out how they got it again. Its because their stinker of a mom keeps using their litter box, even tho we've tried many different ways to keep her from doing such. She uses it when we're not looking, and then they use it, and start kicking and pawing each other's faces. *sigh*
Anyone got suggestions how I can keep their mom from using their box? it makes them look ill. They got their first shots last week, and they did wonderfully! They get their 2nd shots, microchipped and neutered in 3 weeks! They leave a couple of days after their neuter... I'm gonna miss them terribly. Thank goodness Seiya is staying! Smile

You might want to speak to your vet about giving the intranasal vaccinations, it is a bivalent, so only FVRC (Rhino and Calici), given early may protect the kittens from getting the eye colds. The intranasals used to be placed in the eyes and nose, but the new intranasals, should not be placed in the eyes, only nose. If it is the herpes virus. You can give the intranasal as early as 2-3 weeks, following up with boosters, as usual. You can continue with the 3-in one vaccinations.

If the eyes become crusted or gunky, clean with warm water, and always wash from the inside out, and use a different washcloth for the other eye, to prevent spreading to both eyes. Make sure the eye medication is given as many times a day as it is required to heal quickly.

With conjuctivitis, never assume what the cause is, or self medicate with past medicines, it could be a few things including a scratch, if the wrong medication is used, it can cause side effects, including blindness. I would take one of the babies in, to get it looked at and see what the vet feels is best.

If he feels it is the herpes virus, l-lysine, given at 500 mg twice a day, is heard to help with the herpes virus and keeping it from presenting symptoms. There is also a product specifically for cats called Enisyl-F, it is a paste that has lysine and other ingredients to help kittens/cats with herpes.

Was the entire litter boys? I would have your newest boy DNA tested for lynx, as the photos don't seem to indicate he is a lynx, but I guess photos may be deceiving.

Thanks for sharing te photos, they look comfy all resting together.

Purrs,
Stormi
